Milwaukee –- home to beer that made Milwaukee famous -– also has some hopping good shopping options, from malls to one-of-a-kind emporiums. Brady Street, connecting the Milwaukee River to a footbridge heading to the lakefront, features stores for sundries, groceries, and hardware along with a laundry, coffee shops, and restaurants. Historic Third Ward, a turn-of-the-century neighborhood in renaissance, has art galleries, antique shops, and specialty stores. On Water Street, Milwaukee Public Market is home to 20 family-owned specialty food vendors for fresh fruit, veggies, cheese, fish, meat, poultry, and pastries, with café-style seating in the upstairs Palm Garden. Since 1938, Wisconsin Cheese Mart has offered fine selections, and purveyors of all things deliciously cheesy abound around town.

Feinschmeckers and other gourmets flock to Usinger's on Old World Third Street, producing 70 varieties of sausage from bratwurst to beerwurst. Historic Mitchell Street tantalizes with authentic Mexican baked goods from the family opened Lopez Bakery. On Logan Avenue, Help Me Rhonda provides custom framing for artwork, documents, and keepsakes. On Layton Avenue, the House of Harley, debuting in 1972, is Milwaukee's oldest Harley-Davidson dealer and among the world's largest Harley enterprises, hogging the title of World's Number One Award-Winning Dealer. Southridge Mall, anchored by Kohl's, JCPenney, and Sears, has more than 140 stores. Mayfair Mall, on Mayfair Road anchored by Marshall Field's, features a Boston Store, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, and Mimi Maternity. Bayshore Town Center, formerly Bayshore Mall and anchored by Kohl's, boasts Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, Gap and GapKids, MaJolie Footgear, Williams-Sonoma and the like. Brookfield Square, with a Boston Store and JCPenney, has shops from American Eagle Outfitters to Trade Secret and Urban Behavior.

Prime Outlets at Pleasant Prairie hosts dozens of discount outlets including Big Dogs, Bostonian Clark, Carter's Childrenswear, and Ellen Tracy. Johnson Creek Premium Outlets, on Linmark Lane, has more than 60 stores from Adidas and Calvin Klein to Tommy Hilfiger and Springmaid Wamsutta. The Shops of Grand Avenue include Doc & Jugs, Brew City Beer Gear, Blue Kiss Photo, Buddy Squirrel, and Cool Shades. Granville Station, a mixed-use retail development is set to emerge on site of the one-time Northridge Mall. On Jelly Belly Center's Jelly Belly Lane, home of the original gourmet jelly bean, Jelly Belly Junction factory tours are conducted via Jelly Belly Express train, and a retail store provides samples from bellies and gummies to candy corn and taffy.
